Sunday 7th August. Welcome to Page sixteen! It’s been a good week with all the usual stuff going on. On Wednesday we went to Bluewater with SEC and sat on the beach in deckchairs by the waters edge, eating our packed lunch. The beach was quite crowded and we had to put up with some wasps, but it was still quite pleasant. On Thursday after dad had rang we went to Edenbridge and Natalia painted my nails bright blue and glittery. I chose green glitter for my toenails, and George had the same as me!
Friday was bits and bobs day so I bought some Kit-Kats for my fridge - hands off Jamie! On Saturday mum and I went to Teajan’s to get our hair cut and coloured 💇🏽♀️. Sam, Lucy and baby Ethan are coming over today for Sunday lunch and he can try out his new highchair!
Saturday 27th August. I had a great week away on my hols in Norfolk with Shirley, Jamie, Michael, Gary and staff Jackie, Jean and Sarah. We stayed at the Premier Inn just outside Norwich for five days. We had a ride on the North Norfolk steam railway, which was good fun. We also took a boat trip on the Broads and all had 🍦 ice-cream. On Tuesday we went to a pub called The Lighthouse and met Sarah’s mum Barbara and her greyhound puppy called ‘Harvey’. He was very cute, but his breath smelt a bit fishy! On Wednesday we went to ‘Miniature World’ a model village which reminded me of Dave’s front garden village over the road from mum and dad’s. Afterwards we went to the King’s Head for a drink and something to eat. I had chicken 🍛 curry which was very 😋 yummy! On Thursday I spoke to dad on Sarah’s mobile and then we had a big cooked breakfast before heading off back to Longfield. We went to Gregs and bought sandwiches and rolls for our lunch 🥗. I had a chicken sandwich and a hot chocolate and Gary had the same. On Friday we just took it easy at the 🏡 house, and mum and dad came to pick me up for the long weekend back at theirs.
Thursday 22nd September. We haven’t blogged for a couple of weeks, but will start again now as Longfield is full of Covid!! I am testing positive at the moment, and we all have to isolate in our rooms. I put up with it for a couple of days, but then got very distressed, so Velma arranged for Sara to take me to mum and dads where I will have to stay for about a week until I’m negative 👎 again… There has been no Edenbridge and no SEC which was a bummer! On Tuesday I went to the bank with Mel and drew out my housekeeping money 💵, then went to Nancy’s for a 🥓 bacon sandwich - some things never change!
It’s mum’s birthday 🎈 on Saturday, and Sam, Lucy & Ethan and Lyn and Dave were all supposed to be coming over, but because of my lurgy we’ve had to cancel all of that including birthday lunch at the newly refurbished George & Dragon pub! We’ll have do do a takeaway instead - mum's choice of course!
Sunday 9th October. It’s been a busy week. Edenbridge Monday and Thursday, my home day on Tuesday with lunch club and banking with Sarah H, and bowling with SEC on Wednesday, followed by lunch 🥗 at MacDonalds! Dad phoned📱me on Thursday and reminded me to be dressed in my ‘glad rags’ with hair washed on Saturday morning ready for Ethan’s baptism. How exciting, and only a month before his first birthday! We drove to Hornchurch and met Sam, Lucy Nina and Ethan at the church. A few minutes later Ben and Lisa arrived with Sophie and Marie! We all went into the Church and met Father Martin who was very nice 👍. Another family were getting their son Jacob baptised as well, and that was nice because Lucy had taught his brothers! It was a lovely 😊 service and Ethan was very good 😊! We all went to the Jobber’s Rest for lunch afterwards, and I had cod and mussels, the same as mum. Lucy had a steak and ale pie, Sam had a burger and everyone else had beef bourguignon, yummy! 😋 We then went back to Sam & Lucy’s for a cup of tea and baptism cake 🎂 and to celebrate mum’s birthday at last, hurrah! 😁. We left theirs around 5 o'clock to get back to mum and dad’s in time for ‘Strictly’ as mum is addicted to that! The next big celebration will be Lucy’s, Nina’s and Ethan’s birthday collective on Saturday November 5th when the young man will be one year old!
Sunday 23rd October. I’m only doing the blog fortnightly now as that’s when I go to mum and dads. It’s been an ok two weeks at Longfield, though last weekend was a bit boring because we didn’t go out due to lack of staff! This week we went to Edenbridge twice and had good days. On Monday we played ‘Deal or no deal’ with Ian which was good 😊 fun. Our Christmas 🎄 panto rehearsals are going well and we are on track for a performance of Cinderella in December! On Friday Kelly and I went to see ‘Black Adam’ starring ‘The Rock' Dwayne Johnson and it was very 😂 funny. On Saturday I went to Sevenoaks with mum and dad to buy Lucy’s presents 🎁 which are ‘Sea-Salt’ vouchers. We also bought a book 📖 for Ethan’s first birthday 🎈 on Saturday November 5th. In the afternoon we went to the Everyman Cinema in Oxted to see ‘Mrs Harris goes to Paris’ with Lesley Manville which was very good. We’ve decorated the house 🏡 for Hallowe'en and we’ll have a spooky party on Monday whoaar!
Sunday 6th November. Another fortnight has gone by. Monday October 31st was Hallowe'en and we had 2 parties! The first was at Edenbridge but we didn’t all dress up. The staff did and Ian was very good as Count Dracula! We had sandwiches and cake 🎂, and danced 💃 to party music. Chloe was a bit grumpy 😡 and wouldn’t dance with me or Alan… When we got back to the house 🏠 we watched Sharon carve the pumpkins 🎃 and Jamie got grumpy 😡 because he wanted to do it! I dressed up as a mummy and George was a clown. Louise was a witch and Jamie was a skeleton from ‘Day of the Dead’. Gary didn’t quite get the theme so came as Abba! We had sausage rolls, sandwiches, crisps, cakes and fizzy drinks 🍹 .
On Tuesday we went to Lunch Club and enjoyed an Elvis impersonator called Nick, who was very good 😊 . We all got up and danced! After that I went to the bank with Mel and drew out my housekeeping money 💵.
On Wednesday we went to Bluewater with SEC and window-shopped, then had an Indian lunch 🥗 .
Dad rang me on Thursday and we talked about our week.
On Saturday morning mum and dad came over and we went to the Medical Centre for our Covid booster jabs. After that we drove to Sam and Lucy’s to celebrate 🎉 Ethan’s first birthday 🎈! He had lots of presents 🎁 and got very excited bashing his balloon backwards and forwards, laughing 😂 his head off! We had a great day there and it was very special!
My next visit to mum and dad’s will be on Saturday November 19th when mum and will go to Tegun’s to get our hair done.
Sunday 20th November. We’ve had a good fortnight and been quite busy, what with play rehearsals for Cinderella and starting to get organised for Christmas 🎄.
On Tuesday I went to the bank with Mel and took out my money for the week and went to Nancy’s for a 🥓 bacon sandwich!
On Wednesday we took the train 🚂 to London and had afternoon tea with prosecco which made us a bit giggly. When it was dark we went to see the lights in Oxford Street which were beautiful! We all bought trinkets and I bought a London mug. It was a great day out and got us in the festive mood!
Dad rang me on Thursday and I told him what we’ed been up to.
On Saturday mum picked me up and we went to Teagen’s to get our hair done. It’s a bright but chilly day today and we’ll do the supermarket shop on the way back to Longfield.
Next time I’m over on 3rd December we’ll do the Christmas shop for the staff Ho! Ho! Ho!
all aboard the English Tea Bus!
Sunday 4th December Last Saturday was a Longfield weekend and George, Louise and I went with Sandra and Rika to see ‘Matilda the Musical’. It was very 😂 funny and we enjoyed ourselves.
On Thursday 1st mum and dad came to Edenbridge to watch our pantomime 'Cinderella Vs. Covid'.
I was playing one of the ugly sisters, opposite my friend Brett, while the wicked stepmother was played by Alan Sparrow. It was all quite a laugh to put on, but thanks to Jean, Ian and Natalia who had all worked so hard, it went off very well!
Yesterday (Saturday 3rd) mum and dad picked me up and we drove to Sainsbury’s to buy the staff presents 🎁. We got a good selection! In the afternoon we went to the church in Westerham to look at the festival of 🌲 trees. It was very pretty with lots of good ideas used. On the way home 🏡 we dropped in at the George and Dragon 🐉 pub for a coffee (though dad had a glass of house red!) We bumped into mum and dad’s friends Stuart and Charlotte who were having a drink there. We had a good 😊 chat with them. In the evening we went to Halyna’s party at Stuart and Elaine’s. Halyna is a Ukranian refugee staying over here with her children Alena and Lukia. She has got to know us all quite well and lots of us helped her furnish a flat in Tonbridge, so she had cooked us all a Ukranian supper with Borscht, salad, garlic bread and savoury pancakes, stuffed pasta and a special ice-cream dish that translates as ‘broken glass’! It was all 🤤 delicious and Halyna is obviously a very good 😊 cook👨🍳!
Today we will wrap the staff presents 🎁. Next time I’m over on the 17th of December we will put the Christmas tree up and buy Sam’s presents! 🎁
The wicked stepmother and the ugly sisters...
Us all at the ball with Cinderella played by Natalia at the last minute!
One side of the church filled with trees...
Another aisle of trees, 71 altogether...!
Halyna, Lukien and Alena surrounded by all her new friends
Sunday 18th December Its been a bit of a dull week as Edenbridge is full of Covid and everywhere is thick snow ⛄️ ❄️ and freezing cold! We’ve all just rugged-up, stayed warm and watched the telly. We did a lot of 👨🍳 cooking and made ginger biscuits 🥘 (which we iced), Christmas cake and Christmas pudding. Lots of brandy went into the cake 🎂…
On Saturday mum and dad came over in mum’s new 🚗 car which is bright red and very racy! We tried to go to Sevenoaks to buy Sam’s present, but all the car-parks were rammed and we couldn’t find anywhere to park, so we gave up and went back to Westerham. The plan was to eat out then buy Sam’s presents 🎁 on-line. We tried Costa (broken oven) Deli di Luca (rammed), Tudor Rose (rammed) and wound out at the Grasshopper! I had a fish 🐟 finger sandwich, mum had a prawn 🍤 baguette and dad had chicken, bacon and 🥑 avocado in his baguette. After that we went back to mum and dad’s, ordered Sam’s present 🎁 on-line and put-up the tree 🌲.
While mum and I decorated the tree, dad set about making the lounge and dining room Ethan-proof! He had ordered two fire-guards on-line and had to fit them to the fireplaces which was not an easy task! In the evening we watched the ‘Strictly’ final and a new game-show called ‘My Jam’ then went to bed zzzzz…
Christmas tree and fireguard - mission accomplished (Ethan-proof!)
Saturday 14th January It’s nearly half way through January and it’s 2023, so Happy New Year!!
On Friday 6th Sandra took me and Jamie to see the Whitney Houston film ‘Dance with Somebody” which was very good but quite 😭 sad. Afterwards we all went to the Railway Tavern for a New Year Party 🎉 . Jamie and I had bangers and mash which was very good. Sharon and Michael had 🍗 chicken burgers which they enjoyed. Over the weekend we just lazed about and watched the Christian Bale film ‘Pale Blue Eyes’ which was funny but quite violent. On Sunday we all went to Longfield Tandoori instead of cooking roast dinner. I had Chicken Sal Wala which was quite spicy and very nice.
On Monday we played ‘Sitting on a Fortune’ with Ian and on Thursday we started rehearsing for our next-year pantomime ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in which I’m playing Dorothy, Alan is playing the Tin Man and Graham is playing Toto, the dog. Jean Cherry is the Producer, so it will be good!
On Wednesday at SEC we played mat bowls which was quite 😊 good fun.
I'm seeing mum and dad this weekend and will next be over to then on Saturday 28th.
Saturday 28th January It’s now nearly February! On Friday 20th Jean took me and Jamie to the cinema to see ‘Megan’ a cheery film about a killer doll which was quite scary and very dark, but a very good 😊 story. Jean said it made her jump! On Saturday we all went for a health walk around the village and we did over six miles and I was knackered! On Sunday Shirley and Sharon cooked roast lamb which was very nice 👍. Monday and Thursday we went to Edenbridge and played ‘Spin the Wheel’ with Ian which was great fun! On Tuesday we had bangers and mash at Lunch Club, then sandwiches for tea, but Gary didn’t eat very much before he put the rest in the bin, and was told-off by Sara 1. Dad rang me on Thursday and we talked about our week, and seeing mum and dad on the following weekend, when we would go to Sevenoaks to do some shopping and buy a birthday card for Sam. But before the weekend I had one more day, Friday, which is ‘bits & bobs day’. Jean to Jamie and me to the Co-op and I bought this week’s copy of ‘Princess’, my girly magazine. All Jamie bought was a bottle of water!
The next time I’ll see mum and dad will be February 11 - 12, Saturday week.
Meantime, I'm looking forward to the week ahead!
Saturday 11th February Last Saturday Sandra took me and George to see ‘Puss in Boots the Last Wish’ which was very good 😊 and very funny! In the evening we had a party at the house 🏡 to celebrate Alan’s birthday 🎈. We had a yummy 😋 buffet with shandy and 🍋 lemonade. On Monday at Edenbridge we played ‘Blankety Blank’ with Ian which was very funny 😂. On Tuesday it was lunch club, but no entertainment this week, so we played card games including ‘Snap’ and ‘Happy Families’. On Wednesday we went to SEC and played Mat Bowls which is always good fun, with tea & biscuits to follow! Thursday was a bit boring after dad rang because there was no Edenbridge with another outbreak of Covid! Rika did my and Georgina’s nails and a very good job she made of them! On Friday I did ‘bits and bobs’ with Mel, along with Gary and Jamie.
Today I went with mum and dad to Sainsbury’s to do the weekly shop. Dad is going to do a stir-fry 🐔 chicken tonight, then tomorrow we are seeing Jill and Dave and going to Rendezvous for lunch 🥙.
Next week is Sam’s birthday so we are all getting together when I’m next over on the 25th. He’d better let me know what he wants for his birthday 🎈 soon!
Sunday 26th February. There was no Edenbridge on Monday as the clutch had gone in the minibus. It will take about ten days to fix!
On Tuesday Sarah H and I did a health walk, nobody else wanted to go, lazy buggers! When we got back we went to Nancy’s for a bacon 🥓 sandwich which was yummy! 🤤
On Wednesday we took the bus to Dartfoid and met the guys from SEC to go bowling which I always enjoy 😊 . After that we went to Weatherspoons for fish 🐟 and chips with garden peas, all very nice 👍.
On Thursday after I’d spoken to dad, we drove to Edenbridge in a borrowed HFT 🚙 car and George and I had posh gel nails fitted by Stacy. I’m very pleased with them!
Friday was bits and bobs day and I went to the bank with Sharon to get my housekeeping money 💵
Saturday did not go as planned because mum and dad had both had a bad flu-like cold and Lucy and Sam didn’t want Ethan to get it, so we cancelled the birthday lunch. We’ll all meet up on March 11th to celebrate three birthdays - Sam’s, mine and dad’s!
Dad was still feeling rough, so mum and I went to Tunbridge Wells to do some shopping. We both bought cardigans at Fat Face and a Pandora bracelet for my birthday 🎈. We had lunch at Prezzo and then drove back to Westerham. In the evening, mum and I went to the Tulsi for an Indian takeaway which we all enjoyed.
my posh new nails which will last a good while...
Saturday 11th March. Happy Birthday Auntie Jill! Last Saturday was my Birthday🎈 at the house and we ordered a Chinese takeaway. I had prawns to start then duck 🦆 in plum sauce which was very nice! At Edenbridge on Monday we did games with Ian in the morning, and the game was ‘rolling in it’. In the afternoon we did art and we painted fishes in the sea 🌊. I made mine very colourful.
Tuesday was Lunch Club and banking. I drew out £100 for my housekeeping with Rika.
On Wednesday we went to SEC and watched the film ‘Matilda’ in the sensory room. I’ve seen it before yet I still enjoyed it. We also played ‘Botcher’ where you have to hit the jack with a ball 🏀. It was great 👍 fun!
On Thursday I spoke to dad about our week before we left for Edenbridge. We rehearsed our panto for Christmas 🎄 - we’re doing Wizard of Oz - and it’s going well, apart from Mathew who is playing the wizard, but keeps falling asleep 😴 zzz and we have to wake him up!
On Friday we had our ‘bits & bobs’ day and I cooked a chicken 🐔 curry 🍛 with Sharon which was very tasty. In the evening we all watched the film ‘Elvis’ which was very good 😊.
Mum and dad picked me up on Saturday. We rushed back to theirs for brunch, then mum and I drove to Tejun’s to get our hair cut and coloured. Tomorrow Sam, Lucy and Ethan are coming over and we will go to the George & Dragon 🐉 for a birthday lunch for Sam, me and dad! We’ll go back to mum and dad’s to swap presents 🎁 afterwards.
The next big occasion will be Mother’s Day on the 19th, but we’ll celebrate it on the 25th at the Jobbers Rest in Upminster next time I’m over…
