Wednesday July 22nd
After breakfast dad and I did Tuesday’s blog on the bottom patio with a cup of tea. Dad has some scripts to write, so I listened to Roald Dahl’s ‘The Vicar of Nibbleswicke’ on the iPad, which was quite funny.
After lunch dad and I went to Deli di Luca for coffee and a slice of shortbread. It was pretty busy there with lots of people getting take-aways and most of the tables full outside.
Around 5 o’clock mum finished work for the day, so we went for a walk to Farley Common. We met Mark Nelson, our local Vet on the Common walking his dogs Scooby and Molly and he talked to us about the lads jet-skiing on the quarry lake - we had no idea they did that!
We had giant fish fingers for tea which was very nice.
Thursday July 23rd
After breakfast and a few home chores dad and I went out for a coffee. Dad suggested we try ‘Tudor Rose’ which is now open again. We sat outside and dad ordered cappuccino for me, tea for him and a large choc-chip cookie for each of us. It was ok, but paper plates and cardboard cups are not as nice as china! Maybe back to Rendezvous tomorrow.
Mum and dad have signed me up for an ‘Audible’ account with Amazon. It’s £7.99 a month with 1 credit a month for any audio book regardless of price. I ordered Miranda Hart’s ‘Peggy and me’ a funny and touching story about her break-up with her boyfriend Gary and her getting a little dog as a companion. I enjoyed it for quite a while, but then there was a sad bit that made me cry.
Dad suggested we go out for a walk to the Round Pond and round the back, but when we got to the field it was rammed with cows which I don’t like. We tried a different route but it was rammed with stinging nettles so we gave up. Dad suggested we walk up to the Grasshopper and have a bitter shandy which we did and we shared a large a packet of crisps.
On the way back we bought some leeks from the Co-op and had those with the remaining moussaka for tea, which was very nice!
In the evening we watched ‘Celebrity Master Chef’.
Friday July 24th
First thing, dad and I did Thursday’s blog. We’ve started a new page which is page 6 and it’s a bit crazy to think we’ve been blogging for 4 months now! Our trips to the local coffee shops are still a novelty because they’ve been closed for nearly all that time. The weather’s a bit changeable today, one minute the sky is clear blue, then it’s black as anything, but it brightened up after lunch so dad and I went to the Rendezvous for coffee. I had banana cake with mine which was very nice. Dad had a bit of it and agreed it was very tasty.
When we got back, dad helped me buy Miranda Hart’s talking book ‘Joke Shop’ which was the Radio 4 version of her big hit TV series called ‘Miranda’. We also listened to a podcast featuring Jack Dee and Stephen Mangan called ‘Crackanory’. It was a bit whacky, with stories of cyber-abuse and trollish behaviour, but I quite liked it, and it’s free, so we’ll have some of that!
When mum finished work for the day, she and I went to Morrisons for the weekly shop while dad met up with Harry, Stuart and Gary for a beer on the Green. That’s their drinking bubble!
For tea dad cooked chicken and asparagus bake with crusty potatoes. Yummy!
Saturday July 25th
After breakfast we Skype’d Sam and Lucy to check on what time we should meet tomorrow. We agreed on midday and Lucy said no need to bring anything, she would get picnic lunch together and Marie was making a gluten-free cake.
After lunch, mum and I went to Sevenoaks for a bit of retail therapy at our favourite shop, ‘Seasalt’. We both bought a dress there, and a pair of sandals each from Debenhams. We had a nice cappucino at Nona's Italian bistro in the square.
For tea mum and I had salmon and dad had a fillet steak - all very nice! After tea we watched ‘You Only Live Twice’ with Sean Connery as James Bond. It was a bit dated, sexist and cheesy, but still quite entertaining.
Sunday July 26th
We’re going to see Sam and Lucy today which is exciting. We will take dad’s car as he wants to take Harry’s amp and other bits to test with guitars. We’re also taking collapsable chairs as Lucy’s sister Nina and her mother Marie will join our ‘bubble’ as well.
Before we left dad picked a large bowl of wineberries to go with our lunch. The wineberry bushes are overloaded with fruit, so even though they are very nice it’s good to share them with family and get rid of some of them! We had a lovely afternoon even though it rained twice and we had to go inside! Lucy had done a great ‘al fresco’ lunch with salad, tuna and cheese and onion baguettes and olives, and Marie had made a wicked chocolate cake from a ‘Nigella’ recipe using drinking chocolate ground almonds, and fresh redcurrants on top. We said our goodbyes just after 5 o’clock and drove back to Westerham.
We had roast chicken for tea with all the trimmings and it was yummy! After tea we watched the first episode of BBC’s new drama, ’A Suitable Boy’.
Monday July 27th
Not much to report today as it rained ALL day. It’s gloomy and cold and depressing. I watched “Still Game’ in the morning and ‘Black Adder’ in the afternoon. ‘Still Game’ has got a bit dark in this series, with Bobby’s heart attack and Eric’s death but there’s still that quirky Scottish humour in there! We had dad’s sweet chicken curry for tea and that polished off the rest of Sunday’s chicken.
Hopefully, better weather tomorrow!
Tuesday July 28th
As we had hoped it was a lovely sunny day so dad and I went out for a coffee. On the way out dad took a picture of our 'Lockdown Lilies' which have put on a good show this year. Dad had invited his friend Christina and she met us at the Rendezvous. We chatted to lots of people including John & Jeannie Pearch, Johnnie & Karen Smart, Alan Gill from Sue Ryder, Simon Goodall the church gardener and dad’s friend Dill. We were there ages and eventually went home for a late lunch of curry on toast.
After that I watched ‘Merlin’ and ‘The Peep Show’ then decorated some kitchen towel and toilet roll tubes with made up characters including 'Ray Borree' whoever he is! For tea we had sausages and mash with onion gravy - yummy!
After tea we watched ‘Holby’ and ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ which was hilarious..
Wednesday July 29th
Another lovely sunny day today so dad and I went to the Rendezvous for coffee, and I had a pain au chocolat. After lunch mum and I went to Sevenoaks for more retail therapy and coffee at Nona’s. Dad was recording ‘The shadow of the workhouse’ with his friends Sara, Katy and Mike. This will be for the next ‘Talking Town Heritage Trail’ site where the workhouse used to be. He showed me lots of sound effects of footsteps he will use to create atmosphere in the finished piece.
We had a nice early evening drink on the top patio, then dad cooked chilli and rice for tea. After tea we watched ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ and ‘The Repair Shop’.
Thursday July 30th
It’s getting very hot! After breakfast dad and I met Stuart for coffee at Rendezvous. I had lemon drizzle cake which was very nice. The owner, Mourdi, came out to say hello to us and Stuart and dad showed him the ‘Talking Town Heritage Trail’ plaque they would like to fix to the wall outside the restaurant. It will commemorate the life of Eleanor Joy Busk who lived there and started a library for Westerham people in her home at ‘The Grange’. It’s funny when you stand in the restaurant and remember you are standing in her front room.
My iPad crashed badly yesterday and dad has just rebuilt it and relaunched ‘Audible’ so we have downloaded Miranda Hart’s ‘Joke Shop’. I listened to some of that in the shade of the top patio. It’s very funny and her mother Penny, played by Patricia Hodge, is completely barmy! "Such fun..."
For tea dad cooked liver and bacon in a sweet tomato sauce which was very tasty! After tea we watched ‘Q.I.’ which was funny.
Friday July 31st
It’s going to be sooo hot today, about 35 degrees they reckon! After breakfast dad and I did Thursday’s blog on the bottom patio, crowded under the shady end of the umbrella, then we called Longfield on mum’s phone. We have a new system called ‘Alcove Carephone’ which should mean any of the staff can use it. It worked well and was easy to use, but the small screen doesn’t feel very good. After the call, dad uploaded ‘Alcove’ on my iPad and tested it by calling Edem. It worked well and the screen is nice and big, so we’ll use that from now on.
Our neighbour Vivien dropped in with some newspapers for the guinea pigs and stayed for a coffee and a chat which was nice.
After a salad lunch, dad and I went out for a walk and coffee. We were intending to go to ‘Sir Winston’s’ but could see there was no shade to be had, so we grabbed a shady table at Deli di Luca and ordered iced coffee there instead. It was delicious, and very refreshing!
Later in the afternoon, dad’s friend Patrick came over to show us samples of basins, showers and taps for the en-suite rebuild he will do for us.
In the early evening it clouded over and got quite windy, so cooled down a bit. Dad cooked chicken pasta in a pesto and white wine sauce which was lovely.
Saturday August 1st
It’s not going to be so hot today which is a relief! In the morning we Skype’d Sam and Lucy and caught up with their news. They are still painting their spare room, but are pleased with how it’s coming on.
After lunch mum and I went to Sainsbury’s - via the bottle bank of course! Mum wanted to take back some shorts she had bought which didn’t fit comfortably (of course you can’t try things on at the moment).
When we got back, mum cut some of our huge dahlias for the kitchen and they look great!
In the evening our friend Vivien came over and we ordered a take-away from Rendezvous. Dad and I had boeuf bourguignon, Viv had shepherds pie and mum had fish pie. As always, it was delicious!
As part of the Bond season that is running at the moment, we watched George Lazenby in ‘On Her Majesties’ Secret Service’ which was quite funny.
Sunday August 2nd
After a lazy start (it is Sunday after all :-) ) mum, dad and I went to Rendezvous for a coffee. I had a pain au chocolat as well. Maria chatted to us for a while. She hasn’t been back to Spain to see her family since before ‘lockdown’ so she is missing them.
When we got back we had a nice salad lunch with cold meats and olives and a large glass of shandy which was very refreshing.
After lunch mum and dad pottered around in the garden and I sat on the top patio and listened to some ‘Black Adder’ which made me laugh.
For tea we had roast lamb which was yummy!
We have a busy couple of days ahead of us as we have to clear out the tank room, the airing cupboard and bedroom areas by radiators in preparation for when the gas fitters fit the new boiler on Thursday and Friday. Lots to do!
Monday August 3rd
After breakfast I helped dad organise Sam’s old room so that the boys can get to the radiator to fit the new valve. They will also take out the cold water tank so we have to clear the tank room which is a big job. I helped by carrying pots of paint from both rooms to the summerhouse, and filling sacks with other junk dad has been hanging on to for no good reason. Mum spent a long time going through her wardrobe clearing out unwanted clothes, and we drove to Sundridge Hospice Shop with bags and bags of clothes, old curtains and a throw from my room and some corner shelves we no longer want. There’s still lots to clear out for the boiler refit as its going in the airing cupboard.
Dad went round to borrow a pressure washer from his friend Dudley and will clean out the old tank in the side yard as it has to go to allow the boys to fit the new gas supply for the boiler. I got bored and fed up so mum and I went out for a walk to Farley Common, which was deserted. We took the high footpath back which leads to the top of our road.
For tea dad cooked his sweet chicken curry with courgette from Chris and Penny’s Farley allotment. It was very tasty! After tea we watched the re-run of ‘Line of Duty’ which was quite dark with bent coppers all up to no good.
Tuesday August 4th
Dad starts his day by emptying and cleaning the old tank in the side yard. It’s a mucky and difficult job and requires lots of tea! Dad phoned his friend Alex who deals in scrap metal and he said he will come over tonight and take the tank away - hooray! By lunchtime dad is knackered, but recovers with soup and a sandwich.
After lunch there’s more tidying to do, but it only needs mum and dad so I watched a bit more of ‘Still Game’.
At 3 o’clock we went out for a walk and coffee. We sat down outside the Rendezvous and waited to be served. Suddenly Maria came out a bit embarrassed saying they shut at 3! We laughed and said "don’t worry" and walked on to Deli di Luca. Natasha took our order and asked if we wanted cake with our coffee. I said “yes please” and dad ordered one slice of carrot cake. She came out with a huge slice and three forks! I didn’t really need any help, but dad helped eat it anyway…
Back home we had a nice early drink on the top patio and then mum started on moussaka for tea to use up the rest of the roast lamb.
Dad’s friend Alex arrived with a big van and took not only the old tank, but some old iron railings as well - yippee!
Wednesday August 5th
There’s lots more sorting to do to get the tank room cleared and give access to all the radiators. Dad and I made a trip to the lock-up with boxes of stuff - why does dad have so many boxes of stuff? Eventually its all done and we are ready for the re-fit to start tomorrow!
After lunch we all went out for a short walk and coffee at Rendezvous which was very nice. For tea dad cooked Keema Curry. Mum thought there would be enough left-over lamb for this but in the end there wasn’t so we had to use mince instead - not a problem it still tasted great!
After tea we watched ‘The Repair Shop’.
Thursday August 6th
The boys have arrived and there’s tanks and pipes coming out quite quickly. For them it’s going to be a long hot day. Mum and I went to Sevenoaks to do some shopping and had lunch at ‘Bill’s’. I had a fish-finger sandwich and mum had fish pie. It was delicious and the portions were massive!
When I have my bath tonight it will be at our neighbour Vivien’s as the guys will not have finished the new boiler install. They kept working well after 6 o’clock, so we just had cheese on toast for tea. After tea we watched ‘Semi-detached’ with Lee Mack. I thought it was funny, but dad didn’t like it.
Friday August 7th
The boys were still beavering away at 8 o’clock last night and dad had to tell them to pack up and go home. Aidan arrived at 9 o’clock this morning and he carried on with the pipework in the airing cupboard, which is nearly done now. Shard arrived about 10 o’clock and finished fitting the gas supply.
We tried Skyping Longfield but couldn’t make it work, so we rang them on speakerphone instead. I talked to Clarissa and then some of the guys including Gary, Georgina, Alan and Jamie, and also spoke to Kim. It wasn’t as good as seeing them, but at least we spoke.
Soon after, there was a ring on the doorbell and a nurse called Gloria had arrived to take swabs from us for a Covid 19 research study Oxford University are running. This will happen a few times over the next six weeks.
After that, mum drove us to the Garden Cafe at Squerryes Winery for coffee. It was very pleasant and we ended up staying for lunch. We chose sourdough sandwiches with maple smoked bacon and a salad - delicious! From there we drove to Coblands garden centre to buy a day-lily for Elaine’s birthday do tomorrow.
By the time we got back, the boys had virtually finished and we had hot water and a new boiler - hurrah!
For tea dad cooked chilli and rice which was quite hot, but yummy as always!
Saturday August 8th
A busy day today. In the morning we Skype’d Sam and Lucy for a catch-up. They are both well and busy at work. They are still painting their wardrobes, but pleased with the results. We told them about the central heating refurb which is now complete, but some trouble with bath taps that may need to be replaced, as the pressure seems wrong there.
Around lunchtime we went to Elaine and Stuart’s for a garden party to celebrate Elaine’s 70th birthday. It was a bit warm and steamy but very pleasant. The food was bloomin’ lovely, with smoked salmon, gravlax, smoked duck, quiche and loads of salad and very good puds! All the usual suspects were there including their son Robert, Harry and Ann, Gary and Antoinette, Christina and Amber and a few others we don’t know so well. I had a glass of Pimms to start with plenty of fresh fruit and mint leaves, and Elaine had made a fantastic summer pudding - all very pleasant! Tomorrow we are going to see mum’s best friend Lyn’s sister Tina in Rottingdean, near Brighton.
Sunday August 9th
We went to Tina’s today, and it was very hot! Tina has a small pug called Louie who just wants to lick people’s bare legs all the time. It was interesting to note that Tina wore long trousers…
She has a nice sunny flat which was nice and cool, and a very sweet back garden where it was too hot for me. Tina had booked for lunch at a little Italian restaurant called ‘Erbe’. It was pretty hot inside, but not as hot as outside.
I had lasagne, mum had meatballs, Tina had a veggie lasagne and dad had a chicken-burger and chips. We all agreed the food was very nice.
We walked back to Tina’s flat for a cup of tea and more licking from Louie! We drove home with dad asleep in the car - maybe it was that large glass of wine…
Dad and I did Saturday’s blog then we went to Liz and Dudley’s for early evening drinks which was very pleasant. When we got back, we had cold meats and salad with the remains of mum’s moussaka for mum and me. After tea we watched BBC 1’s ‘A Suitable Boy’.
Monday August 10th
Another really hot day without any breeze. I went for a walk with dad to the Round Pond to take some photographs. Its very overgrown and untidy and dad wants to replace the fences and remove trees to restore the look it had in the 1930s including putting in a picnic area for families to sit and enjoy the pond.
After lunch dad and I went up to Deli di Luca for a coffee. Andrew, the owner has installed a large marquee at the front for shade with acceptable social distancing.
Dad’s friend Christina joined us and we had iced mocha coffees to stay cool. It was very nice but I got too hot as I was wearing a long-sleeved dress. I wound out with a headache and we had to go home.
On the way back we bought some Kofta sausages for tomorrow night’s tea.
For tea tonight dad cooked his sweet chicken curry with courgettes and peppers, which was very nice! After tea we watched ‘Line of Duty’ which is hotting up quite quickly!
Tuesday August 11th
It’s very hot again, probably even hotter than yesterday! In the morning, Dad and I drove to the dump with, wait for it, the last load of rubbish from the garden project! There were seven bags of dust, twigs, leaves and earth, old plywood panels, old metal pipes, old timber and branches and some computer boxes.
Because of Covid 19, we had to book a time-slot and be clocked-in on arrival. The man who does this is a bully who needs anger management, and dad always has words with him. This time was no different and dad told him he had six bags of ‘dust’ which was not really garden soil. Dad said he would discuss this with the guy on the gate, but bully-boy got on his walkie-talkie and laughed when he told his colleague that we wanted to ‘discuss’ the sack contents, like there would be no negotiation...
When we got inside, dad showed the the gate-guy what was in the sacks and he agreed with dad that it was not really soil! In the end, he charged us for 1 sack of rubble - a bucket really - at £4 and 1 sack of soil - six bags of dust - at £4, total £8 instead of £28 bully-boy would have charged! What a great guy!.
In the afternoon dad and I went to Deli di Luca for an iced mocha and a rocky road, and it was dad's turn to pay for this!
For tea we had kofta kebabs with baked Mediterranean vegetables, followed by wineberries and yoghurt. It was lovely!
More ‘Line of Duty’ to follow and the bent coppers are now in it up to their necks…
Wednesday August 12th
The weather is supposed to change today, getting cooler and maybe some rain, but no sign of it yet, as its still bloomin’ hot!
In the morning dad and I walked down to meet dad’s friend Terry at the Lodge he is rebuilding in Quebec Square. Terry is a local sheep farmer and dad borrows straw bales off him for people to sit on when we have an event on The Green. Terry joked with dad that he now wants a favour instead of the other way round - he has applied for planning permission for a new safer driveway into the Lodge and would like dad to give a historian’s view on it.
He showed us round the Lodge and its going to look pretty good when it’s finished. We met Terry’s good friend and neighbour Owen Jones who dad also knows.
Terry bought three of dad’s books on Westerham and dad gave him a copy of ‘Growing Up’, his autobiography.
When we left, we walked up to Deli di Luca for coffee and croissants (I had a pain au chocolat).
Later in the afternoon, mum and I went to the Co-op for supplies then dad cooked chicken Florentine in white wine sauce with pasta. He used some of our home grown French beans along with the spinach and it was lovely!
After tea we watched BBC Two's new drama ‘Harlots’ which I didn’t really like because it was too rude!
Thursday August 13th
In the morning, Edem rang dad from Longfield. He has uploaded the latest software version onto the ‘Alcove’ videophone system and got it working again! We got the i-Pad and they phoned us from the house and there was Louise, Gary, Michael, Georgina, Alan and Shirley - Jamie was doing his homeday washing! We chatted to them and Edem, and caught up with all the news. The picture was quite good.
After that dad and I went to Deli di Luca for coffee and the ‘must-have’ Rocky Road which we shared - yum!
It became really cloudy after lunch and then the heavens opened! It rained really hard for about an hour and then the sky cleared again. It was cooler then, so we enjoyed an early evening drink on the top patio, then dad cooked liver and bacon for tea and it was lovely. We watched Richard Ayoade’s ‘Travel Man’ which was an episode of him with Jack Dee. It was interesting and funny.
Friday August 14th
I started the day with a bath and hairwash as Sam and Lucy are coming over for lunch. We had booked at the Rendezvous, un-booked and decided on a take-away, then re-booked as we decided we all felt comfortable to go there! We had a really nice meal and the restaurant was properly distanced, so we felt quite happy. Lucy and I had salmon, mum had a cheese omelet, Sam had a beef burger and dad had a chicken burger - it was all fab and felt quite novel as we haven't eaten out as a family for months.
Even though the weather has broken at last and we’ve had some rain, it was warm enough to sit in the garden and have a cup of tea. We chatted about Sam and Lucy’s plans for completing their spare room, re-flooring the hall and a possible kitchen refit - wow!
Following the new boiler fit at ours, dad has put the airing cupboard back together again, so we can do some house tidying. The suitcases and Christmas tree can go in the old tank room, which is now a big empty store as the tank has gone.
It was simple cheese on toast for tea following our big lunch. After tea we watched ‘Downton Abbey’ then ‘Doc Martin’ which I enjoyed.
Saturday August 15th
It was a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers today, so coffee shops are out! Jobs to do this weekend are 1) tidy Sam’s old room to begin to make into mum's office 2) put suitcases, Christmas tree and big Dyson into new storage in old tank room (we’ll probably always call it ‘the tank room’)
3) dad to remove old boiler back plate and book Sean the brickie to come and make-good where the old vent was 4) buy new fish pond pump and finally, dad and me to rebuild fish pond filter - that should keep us busy! Dad made a start on this lot while mum and I went to Sainsbury’s via the bottle bank… Mum and I bought salmon for tea for us and a nice piece of steak for dad. After tea we watched ‘Casualty’ then ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
Sunday August 16th
Another day of sunny spells and a few showers. Dad finally gets the boiler backplate off the wall where the boiler used to be in the back extension. Now we can get Sean in to make good.
After lunch we drove to Tatsfield Aquatics and bought a new pump for the fish pond. Dad searched the bottom of the pond yesterday and retrieved the steel waterfall plate that had dropped into the pond. We can now clean out the big filter and get the waterfall going again. By the time we got back it had started to rain, so I watched another couple of episodes of ‘Red Dwarf’ before making a start on tea.
Mum and dad spent an hour choosing taps and measuring up for the en-suite shower rebuild.
For tea we had roast chicken with all the trimmings and it was yummy! We watched ‘Countryfile’, Antiques Road Show’ and ‘A Suitable Boy’, a nice way to finish a Sunday evening.
Monday August 17th
After we’d done Sunday’s blog dad and I went to Deli di Luca for coffee and a Rocky Road. The sun came out and it got quite warm. When we got back dad made a start on the pond pump and filter. He took the filter apart and it was disgusting! He washed it out and replaced the filter sponges. All the wiring needed redoing so it turned into quite a big job and he needed to turn the power off. Mum and I went out for a walk to Farley Common to give dad some space. Soon after we got back he’d finished it, and turned the power back on. It all worked but the waterfall is really strong so we may need to buy a valve for that.
We had a drink to celebrate, then dad cooked sausage casserole for tea which was very nice!
After tea we watched the last episode of ‘Line of Duty’ but I didn’t like it because it was too violent.
Tuesday August 18th
The weather’s still a bit iffy so probably no coffee today. After breakfast and blog, dad and I drove to Polhill Garden Centre to buy a valve for the garden pond pump, as it’s giving the fish a headache! Dad bought a box of fittings and taps and set to work. About an hour later we had a gentle waterfall and it’s much better.
After lunch I watched ‘Fawlty Towers’ Hotel Inspector and Basil’s secret betting episodes. I’ve seen them before, but they are still hilarious!
The chef had a night off as we had Chicken Kiev for tea. They were very nice with lots of yummy garlic! We watched ‘Life on the Farm’ which was interesting and enjoyable.
Wednesday August 19th
It’s a gloomy horrible day, it’s raining hard and we won’t be doing anything outside. In the morning I watched a couple of episodes of ‘Still Game’ which was funny and bad taste as usual!
Dad braved the elements and went to the Co-op to get bits for tea and a French stick for lunch with our soup. As he got back, Gloria arrived with our latest swab test - not a favourite of mine!
In the afternoon dad and I drove to Sevenoaks to get dad a couple of cotton summer jumpers from Marks and Sparks. He chose dark green and dusty pink. He noticed some smart lightweight grey shorts and bought those too.
We headed back in the pouring rain and were glad to get home. I watched some ‘Red Dwarf’ which was very funny.
For tea dad cooked his sweet chicken curry which is always a favourite! After tea we watched ‘The Repair Shop’ then the News. Lets hope for a better day tomorrow!
Thursday August 20th
It’s dry and the weather forecast is good. Around 11 o’clock dad and I went to Deli di Luca for coffee with dad’s friend Christina. The sun came out and it got quite hot. After a little while dad’s friend Jonnie Smart came and joined us. We had quite a laugh about lots of things. I had an iced coffee, dad had a mug of tea and we shared a Rocky Road.
After coffee dad and I walked back via the Co-op where we bought fruit and a French Stick for lunch.
In the afternoon dad and I sat on the top patio where he did some work and I listened to some ‘Black Adder’ specials.
Around 6 o’clock mum and I went for a walk to Farley Common. There were lots of dog walkers up there. When we got back, our neighbour Dudley was having a glass of wine with dad. Dudley has a good friend Graham who will replace Sam’s bedroom window which has gone rotten, so he and dad were looking at diary dates.
For tea dad cooked a ‘spag bol’ as mum didn’t fancy chilli. After tea we watched ‘Celebrity Masterchef’, then the News and went to bed after my bath.
