Welcome to page ten starting the week of 7th December - Lockdown 2 is over, but Kent has gone into tier 3, so no pubs or restaurants open for sit-downs and restricted socialising…
On Monday we all did some drawing and colouring. We had 🍗 chicken Kievs for tea.
Tuesday was my and Georgina’s home 🏡 day. Longfield Nationwide was shut so Kim drove us to Gravesend bank instead. When we got back I cleaned my room. Jean helped me and George make 🍗 chicken curry for tea and it was very nice 👍.
Wednesday was a TV day and we watched episodes of ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ and ‘Only Fools and Horses’ 🐴, two of my favourite shows!
Dad rang me on Thursday and we had a jolly chat. After that I did some craft and drawing. For tea we had 🍝 pasta carbonara with bacon 🥓 which was very tasty!
On Friday my friend Angie came over as usual and we had a good chat Being Friday it was ‘🐟 ‘fish and chip’ night which was great!
Mum and dad arrived on Saturday to pick me up as usual, and mum has arranged for us to go to Teagan’s for a haircut… 💇Yippee! We'll put up the christmas 🎄 tonight as well, and Skype Sam and Lucy tomorrow.
The week of 14th December, most of the country is now in tier 3, so gloom, gloom, gloom…
On Monday Gary, Jamie and I cooked a chicken 🍗 curry with Sara, which was very nice 👍 .
Tuesday was my and Georgina’s home 🏡 day and we had our Christmas 🎄 party in the evening, so lots to do during the day. The sausage rolls, Scotch Eggs, Spring Rolls, Samosas, Crisps, pizza, Chicken nuggets and quiche were laid out on the dining table, and the ‘booze’ was assembled on the work surface by Mel. Most people had 🍷 wine, but I had bitter-shandy. We all got quite giggly and had a disco with a mirror-ball in the lounge. I 💃 danced with Jamie, and we all had a good 😊 time.
On Wednesday we all did some drawing and colouring with Jackie. We had spicy 🍗 chicken and 🍚 rice for tea with a 🥗 salad which Jamie wouldn’t eat, the fusspot! Gary and Dominic had baked beans and chips with their chicken…
Dad rang me on Thursday and we had a chinwag about our week. We all went for a health-walk with Kim and Mel after that. We had chicken 🍗 Kiev with salad and peas for tea , then watched ‘Last of the summer wine’ which was quite funny.
On Friday Sharon took me to the nail bar and I had my nails done for Christmas. My friend Angie came over with Cheri from SEC and Roy arrived from ‘Lunch Club’ which was nice. We all had a good chat over a cup of tea ☕️ .
Saturday morning, mum and dad came to pick me up and we went back to theirs for egg and bean brunch, then mum and I drove to Sainsbury’s for the weekly shop. Mum told me that she and dad would be over on Tuesday to pick me up for Christmas 🎄 Yippee! We’ll Skype Sam and Lucy in the morning then wrap the staff presents. We’ll see Sam and Lucy on 📦 Boxing 🥊 Day. Merry Christmas one and all, and eat those Brussels sprouts!
Post New Years blog - welcome to 2021! With Christmas over, a bit of reflection… 2020 was NOT a good year, though we got lots done at ‘Colpetty’ through the lockdowns! Just before Christmas 🎄mum and dad got their bedroom carpet down and the blinds up which finishes their bedroom and en-suite refurb. They also had Sam’s bedroom window replaced with a UPVC double glazed unit that will last many years, and no more drafts making what is now mum’s office nice and warm :-) .
Due to tier 4 restrictions, we didn't share Boxing Day with Sam and Lucy, but we Skype'd them while we were all having dinner and raised a glass 🥃 or two!
The week following Christmas got very cold and wintry. We are two weeks past the winter ❄️ solstice so the days are getting longer. There’s still January and February to face so we could still see some nasty weather though… We are well into Winter now so next weekend, if it’s dry, dad and I will go out to take some ‘season’ photos. Meanwhile, here’s one taken by dad’s friend Ray Barr, and we think it’s pretty good! 😊
Sunday January 10th
January feels extra gloomy 😞 as we are heavily in lockdown three, which is countrywide. It’s freezing cold and the sky is grey, but it doesn’t get dark until 5 o'clock now, so the days are getting a bit longer. Fingers-crossed we can get out for a health walk round Longfield this next week, to walk off all that Christmas 🎄 chocolate 🍫 … I’ll let you know how it goes!
Meanwhile here are some snowy pictures dad took a couple of years ago.
Saturday January 16
I had an ok 👌 week, then Saturday morning mum and dad came over to pick me up for the weekend. We drove back to theirs in the slush as it had snowed in the night. I helped dad do some tidying up then we had lunch and mum went to the supermarket. I’ve stopped going with her to reduce the Covid risk, so I watched some ‘Fools and Horses 🐴 ‘ while dad cleared up the archive in his office. We are going to have a big burn-up tomorrow to get rid of ten years of dad’s client contacts!
On Sunday after my bath and hair wash we Skype’d Sam and Lucy. Sam has had his first Covid jab and he told us all about it. He’s not good with needles and felt very woozy afterwards so had to go and lie down for a while. He was ok after that, thank goodness 😅 ! After we’d swapped news, we wished them a good week, then mum made brunch with left-over chilli and beans on toast which was yummy 😋 .
After brunch I helped dad with the burn-up which was quite fun. We got rid of loads of paperwork and notebooks. I think 🤔 dad is a hoarder, but he denies it! More next week…
Saturday January 23 I had an ok week again. Michael made me laugh 😆 when we watched ‘Mr Bean the movie’ 🍿 .
On Monday I went on a health walk with Rika and Alan around Longfield. We also did a health walk on Tuesday and guess what? Jamie came too! On Wednesday we Skype’d the guys at Edenbridge and had a good 😊 chat.
After dad phoned 📱on Thursday, we did another walk with Jackie, Louise, Gary and Georgina - that’s three walks in a week for me!
On Friday afternoon we went in the minibus to Edenbridge with Sara and Velma.
On Saturday morning mum and dad came over to pick me up for the weekend. When we got back, we had brunch, then dad and I went out for a walk while mum did the supermarket shop.
Dad and I popped over to Christina’s with a mains lead she needed and a map she’ll use to show where the way markers are on local footpaths which is a project she's doing with dad and the Town Partnership. Then dad and I walked down ‘back-meadow’ to the round pond to take some photographs which you’ll see in a minute. We met dad’s friends Dan and Hannah with their boys Albert and Henry and their new baby 👶 Sienna. For tea mum made moussaka, then we watched ‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’ 🍼
then ‘Titanic’.
On Sunday, after my bath and hair wash we Skype’d Sam and Lucy for our weekly catch-up with all the news. For brunch we finished the moussaka, then dad and I did the blog. It snowed quite heavily this morning so dad took some photographs of the chickens and garden in the snow.
Saturday January 30th
I had a good 😊 week, but only one walk on Tuesday, my and George’s home day. We all went out with Jackie and walked round Longfield. We finished up with bacon 🥓 sandwiches from ‘Nancy’s’ which were bloomin’ lovely! 😊 In the afternoon I stripped my bed and did my washing.
On Wednesday we Skype’d Edenbridge and caught up with Ian’s news and chatted to some of the guys.
Dad rang me on Thursday as usual and we chatted about our week.
On Saturday morning mum and dad came over to pick me up for the weekend. I have to take back a consent form to sign with mum stating that I am happy to have a Covid vaccination jab. On Saturday afternoon while mum went to do the weekly shop, dad and I went out for a walk to take some photographs for this week’s blog. We walked to the churchyard where dad was pretty sure we would find some snowdrops and crocus’s in flower. It was raining and very damp but he was right! You’ll see the pictures in a minute.
On Sunday we Skype’d Sam and Lucy. Lucy was very excited because a musician friend of hers in Nashville has recorded pedal-slide on four tracks of her upcoming album! She played some and it sounded really good 😊!
Sam has had his first Covid jab and so has Lucy’s mum. We chatted a bit more then signed off for brunch of eggs from ‘the girls’, ham and beans - yum! 👅 . Bye for now, more next week.
